Cub prix: Cool Fazli waiting to strike in Kuala Terengganu

BACK-to-back Expert champion Ahmad Fazli Sham is not hitting the alarm button ahead of Round 3 of the 10-leg Petronas Sprinta AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship in Kuala Terengganu this weekend.
The 27-year-old Fazli, champion in 2007 and 08, failed to step on the podium in both earlier rounds but he is not worried. The Taiping-born rider only managed eighth place in the opening round in Alor Star and was fourth in Kluang. He is currently fifth in the standings with 21 points. Still, the Shell Advance Yamaha Maju rider is not panicking as he believes everything is still under control because he is only four points shy of joint-third placed riders Ahmad Fuad Baharudin (Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Raceline) and Mohd Adli Salihin (Motul Yamaha YY Pang) and nine points behind second placed Elly Idzlinizar Ilias (Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Ah Hong). Fuad's teammate, Mohd Iskandar Raduan tops the standings with 36 points. "We are still in the early stages of the Championship and I am in no doubt that my team will be able to put it together in the coming rounds.
"Even last season, I was a bit slow in picking up points and, after the second leg, I was only ranked third in the standings. Now I am fifth overall but it's still okay for me as it's still a decent result," said Ahmad Fazli. "My machine has improved tremendously compared to the first round."
